REbuilding a sense of PLACE (REPLACE) is a UKRI FLF programme of research awarded \u00a31.5million to advance the understanding of the socio-cultural role 3D technologies can play in rebuilding a ‘sense of place’ after disasters. Through co-created digital interventions, we will inform the recovery cycle by using the digital as a platform for communities who have been affected by disasters. Through advocating for both communities and their lost places via digital interventions, REPLACE will be able to directly inform practitioners and policy makers, affecting new perspectives for the Hazard Management Cycle.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

A UKRI FLF funded project, REPLACE aims to advance the transformative deployment of 3D technologies in supporting communities and heritage in the context of environmental disasters. We will investigate how a sense of place, heritage and resilience intersect, and co-develop and assess how to integrate participatory practices and 3D technologies into the Hazard Management Cycle, which looks at how places can prepare for, respond to, recover from, mitigate the effects of, and adapt to disasters. REPLACE explores how we can impact policy, practices, and standards for the use of 3D technologies to support and advocate for communities and their heritage in the context of disasters, as well as examine if the Hazard Management Cycle works effectively in for communities affected by enviornmental catastrophes. Our case studies are selected based on their \u201cplacements\u201d within the Hazard Management Cycle, through which the different uses communities would have for 3D technologies in their experiences of earthquakes can be explored.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

REbuilding a sense of PLACE (REPLACE) is a UKRI FLF programme of research awarded \u00a31.5million to advance the understanding of the socio-cultural role 3D technologies can play in rebuilding a ‘sense of place’ after disasters. Through co-created digital interventions, we will inform the recovery cycle by using the digital as a platform for communities who have been affected by disasters. Through advocating for both communities and their lost places via digital interventions, REPLACE will be able to directly inform practitioners and policy makers, affecting new perspectives for the Hazard Management Cycle. A UKRI FLF funded project, REPLACE aims to advance the transformative deployment of 3D technologies in supporting communities and heritage in the context of environmental disasters. We will investigate how a sense of place, heritage and resilience intersect, and co-develop and assess how to integrate participatory practices and 3D technologies into the Hazard Management Cycle, which looks at how places can prepare for, respond to, recover from, mitigate the effects of, and adapt to disasters. REPLACE explores how we can impact policy, practices, and standards for the use of 3D technologies to support and advocate for communities and their heritage in the context of disasters, as well as examine if the Hazard Management Cycle works effectively in for communities affected by enviornmental catastrophes. Our case studies are selected based on their \u201cplacements\u201d within the Hazard Management Cycle, through which the different uses communities would have for 3D technologies in their experiences of earthquakes can be explored.
